Why I Just Had To Write You Today

Why I Just Had To Write You Today
by Monica Day

I had no intention of writing you from bootcamp today. I vowed that this year I would just enjoy the sun and fun …

Then, Michael Masterson went and blew me away on opening night. And I knew I had to jot you at least a quick note … and bring you an important opportunity … today.

I’ve written to you many times – especially lately – of the importance of coming up with a Big Idea for a promotion. And in our mentoring program, we emphasize doing group peer reviews to improve copy.

Now, there is a new peer review process that Michael and other marketers have started using that does both:

He calls it Copy Logic – and I became quickly convinced that it is the key to success in copywriting.

The most important element of the Copy Logic approach is writing every day. You read it right – every day. Michael told the story of a brand-spankin’-new copywriter who started only six months ago and has already written a breakthrough promotion that brought in $14 million – and he was using the Copy Logic method.

You can do it too.

Spend no more than 30 minutes a day, write no more than 50-100 words into a headline and lead, and then get it critiqued by a group that will spend no more than 3 minutes to rate it and give general comments.

Can you imagine? Spend just 30 minutes a day and in just six months you could write a $14 million promotion?

OK, before you yell at me …

YES – you have to get the basic copywriting program, and preferably the master’s program – and learn all the structure and techniques used in direct response copywriting.

YES – it means crawling out of the isolation of your home office and collecting together a group of people willing to review copy together.

YES – you still need to do self-marketing, go out and get clients, and all that stuff.

It’s not a short cut. But it is a sure cut. I could feel it the minute he said it.

I have struggled always with the discipline of writing everyday. Of having parameters like this. And of not letting the beautiful silence of working alone everyday become deafening isolation. So I know personally – this won’t be as easy for some as it sounds.

But I learned here firsthand from people who are using the Copy Logic system that it’s well worth the effort and time you’ll spend.

OK, seriously, I am going to the beach now.

What can I say? Once a conference reporter, always a conference reporter.

Resource Referral: Bring Bootcamp Home

I may not be the first person you’ve heard this from … but I’m going to tell you anyway:

You’ve simply got to get Bootcamp-In-Your-Home this year. It’s cheaper now than it will be if you wait, it’s fully guaranteed, and, best of all – no wait time this year!

That’s right – this year they figured out a way for you to download the entire bootcamp, rather than waiting weeks for it to get edited and transferred onto DVD’s.

Seriously, there isn’t just a little information being shared here – it’s a ton. And it isn’t just about copywriting in isolation – it’s about what is possible if you learn copywriting, and allow it to lead you into the field of direct response marketing.

Like it or not, the year’s presidential election was won because the candidate harnessed the power of the internet and put it to work for him in a way no other has before in the history of American politics.

The very skills we learn as copywriters are the same skills that are being used to generate vast amounts of wealth, change the face of politics, shape opinions, provide new forms of entertainment, gain a new level of health and even spiritual awareness.

You mean to tell me you still aren’t sure if you can use it to make a buck?!

C’mon now. Use it or lose it. Here’s the link: http://www.awaionline.com/cp/homestudy/

Quick Copy Tip: A Trip To CUBA After Every Promotion

No, not Cuba, the tiny country with great cigars that we’re technically not allowed to visit. CUBA is the peer review technique that Mike Palmer pioneered (and is explaining in detail even as I write you).

I wish I had known about this system years ago when I was first starting out. Even after I got good at writing headlines and leads – finishing the dang thing off was a challenge.

But not when you apply the CUBA review at the very end before you send it off.

Just print off a copy of your promotion (or send by email) and give it to a few colleagues, or even a friend or spouse. Ask them to circle any places in your copy that are:

Make the changes and you are pretty much guaranteed that your promotion will be vastly improved over the final draft that you thought was your best.

That’s what I call Master Copywriting.
